Our organically crafted Andiroba Oil, also popularly called Crabwood Oil or Carap Oil, is cold pressed from the seeds of Carapa guianensis, native to the tropical rain forests of Amazon. Widely used by the indigenous populations of the northern region of Brazil, this rich, light creamy oil has properties similar to Neem Oil: it has a slightly bitter taste and earthy aroma attributable to a group of terpene chemicals called Meliacins.

REPORTED BENEFITS AND USES

Andiroba Oil contains high quantities of Omega 6 and 9 Essential Fatty Acids, Vitamin E, and plant phytosterols, making it a powerful antioxidant ingredient which aids collagen production and fights free radical damage, one of the causes of the signs of ageing. With powerful anti-inflammatory properties, Andiroba Oil helps to reduce redness, blotching and other inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. Crabwood Oil exhibits excellent penetrating qualities and exceptional mositurisation activity, making it ideal as a massage oil or as a carrier oil for treatment products and as a natural moisturizing base for skin care formulations.

Due to its antibacterial and antiseptic properties, Andiroba Oil is also widely included in numerous hair care products to control oil production, encourage a healthy scalp, hydrate the strands, bring out hair's natural sheen, and help with easier manageability. Carapa Guianensis Seed Oil also works exceptionally well as a massage oil.
