Our organically crafted Cocoa Oil, also called Cacao Bean Oil and Theobroma Oil, is extracted from the Cocoa Beans (pronounced ka-kow) which is found inside the fruits (pods) that grows on the Theobroma cacao tree. Cocoa Oil boasts many of the same benefits as Cocoa Butter because Cocoa Oil is actually obtained by filtrating (or fractionating) Cocoa Butter. During the filtration process, all of the nourishing actives in Cocoa Butter are drawn out into a concentrated oil, while the compounds that make the butter solid and waxy are left behind.

The most obvious difference between the Cocoa Butter and Cocoa Oil is their texture, as their name suggests: one is butter (solid) and the other oil (liquid). This difference arises because of their different chemical composition, specifically in their Stearic Acid content, which is high in Cocoa Butter giving it a waxy and thick texture and vice versa. Cocoa Oil is designed for all kinds of cosmetic products from rinse-off to leave-on, showing a great compatibility with all cosmetic ingredients.

Cocoa Oil is high in Oleic Acid, a saturated fatty acid which is highly compatible with the sebum naturally produced by our skin, which means it's readily absorbed and is said to help the absorption of other active ingredients. Cocoa Butter Oil is also rich in antioxidants and phytochemicals, which help fight off free-radical damage to the skin, improve blood flow to the skin and slow skin-aging by protecting against damage from the sun's harmful UV rays. Cocoa Bean Oil has also been promoted to heal rashes from conditions like eczema and dermatitis.

In haircare, the emollient properties of Cocoa Seed Oil makes it ideal for superior hydration and repair, especially for dry and damaged hair; mixing it into natural shampoos and conditioners can help increase the shine and health of the hair, and strengthen the follicles in their beds, reducing hair loss. Cocoa Oil also help activate new hair growth by increasing the blood circulation to the scalp by delivering several important vitamins and minerals.
