Our organically crafted Pimento Leaf Essential Oil, is steam distilled from the leaves of the tall evergreen Pimenta dioica (synonym Pimenta officinalis) trees growing in the beautiful tropical Caribbean Islands. The benefits of Pimento Leaf Oil can be attributed to the high Eugenol content of the oil. Eugenol is also found in Clove (Syzygium aromaticum) oil, and they share many of the same health benefits.

The name Allspice originates from its similarities to the aroma of a combination of other sweet spices of Black Pepper, Clove and Cinnamon. Columbus originally brought Allspice back to Europe during the 18th Century thinking it was pepper, hence the name Pimenta. It quickly became popular among Europeans for its aromatic and medicinal qualities. Allspice (Pimenta dioica) essential oil can be found in two variations, Allspice Berry (Pimento Berry) Essential Oil and Allspice Leaf (Pimento Leaf) Essential Oil.

REPORTED BENEFITS AND USES

Pimento Leaf Oil is a 'hot' or warming oil, as well as an analgesic helping improve blood circulation as well as calm the nerves. Its pain reducing properties are attributed to its Eugenol content, helping to relieve arthritis and other muscle related pains. For cosmetic applications, Pimento Leaf Oil acts as an astringent, constricting the skin and tightening pores. Its illustrious aroma is also a favorite in perfumes and soaps.

Emotionally and energetically, Pimento Leaf Oil is centering, strengthening, and calming to the mind, body, and spirit. This essential oil promotes relaxation and can bring comfort during times that are particularly stressful. The rich, warm aroma of Allspice Leaf is reminiscent of fall especially when combined with oils such as Orange Sweet, Clove Bud, and Cinnamon. It is also reputed to act as an aphrodisiac.
