Squalane and Squalene are essentially the same compound (difference of one letter: an e
instead of a
in Squalane). Squalene is basically the natural form of Squalane, where the compounds are extremely unstable and deteriorates quickly to undergo oxidation, and therefore, it does not function effectively on the skin. Squalane is a highly stable derivative of Squalene obtained by the process of hydrogenation and is incredibly stable (not prone to oxidation). Due to its powerful moisturizing and soothing abilities as well as non-comedogenic properties, Squalane is widely used as an ingredient in skincare products for all skin types, including oily skin.
